I few ideas...

iPad 2 requires the latest version of iTunes. Make sure you have it - if not, download the latest.

Try a different USB port on computer.

Try it with the iPad on or off.

Try a different sync cable.

Try a different computer.

Uninstall and reinstall iTunes.


Sounds like the diagnostic process for MS stuff...
