Get over the I phone vs. the Droid and answerer the question you girls. 

Yes I have It is easy takes about 30 sec once you find the programs you need.  I have a Samsung on US cellular and used the following program.  Installed it hit the ROOT button and it then installed Supperuser on my phone and I was done.  I do NOT do any more than that.  I DO NOT overclock my phone or any of that.  Then install your wifi tether app lots of them.

Note:  If you do it this way you are making a (ad HOC) point and not a true wireless point.  This means you cannot connect though say a company VPN

My laptop, and wife and daughters I pad stuff hook up just fine.  I did it to see if I could.  I still use the tether app for $25 as I hook to a VPN and it is the law.  Really sucks because you paid for the data and now they want to ding you again on how you disperse the data.  Do what your conscious will allow and good luck it’s easy Google search will show you the way
