No. iOS 5 will need to be installed through iTunes initially, and from that point on iTunes becomes 100% unnecessary.
For example - OS X Lion was released a few weeks ago. It was an a major OS upgrade for the Mac. It was a delta update - the only parts pushed out in the update was the new or changed parts from Snow Leopard. iOS will work the same way. |
