| No Sir - I am completely "focused" - you keep throwing up smoke and mirrors to detract from the message that I am conveying - that setting up a Windows system properly is a complicated, expensive nightmare that most people really don't want to mess with.
You must live in an isolated commune of computer geeks if you think that most have a "decent understanding of computer operation". I have found that most fall somewhere between that and a next to no understanding. I'd say the level of understanding is "I know that if I slum it with Windows, I need anti-virus" - and that is about it. That message has sunk in pretty well. So what do most do? They either use what the computer came with or find something free off the net. Remember, they chose a "cheap" PC, they are less apt to be willing to pay for a malware package. Regardless, MOST of the masses out there do NOT have a good enough understanding of PC/Win security to have a clue how to set them up. Nor do they WANT to spend the time and money. Nor should they HAVE to. | |
