Kingston,Mi | TroyG; oatmeal with raisins and choclate chip, plowman; yes it was home brew (from a Muntons kit) and btruck; added sugar in the ammount requested then bottled. I think the sugar is the cause. I added the 3 oz of sugar to 5 imp (6 us) gallons then bottled. Was very careful to only bottle 12 oz. per bottle. The bottles that I opened so as to save the clean up and save the bottles would foam up 12 to 18 inches above the bottle neck, quite impressive. The last time I had excessive pressure in home brew from a kit, it eventually subsided especially after several days in the fridge. Now I have about 5 gallons of wasted beer to pour on the garden and about 50 bottles to wash.
Next kit is a Thomas Coopers kit from Australia for Irish Stout, maybe I'll bottle that in the collection of old 16.9 oz Pepsi bottles as they seem to be quite a lot heavier glass. The bottles that this mess was bottled in are re-useable Sam Adams.
