I have gained some valuable information from this forum over the last couple of years. I have been able to solve some problems through the help of others on this board and hope to continue to do so.

I have no problems with Apple products. I think they are excellent products and I own a Mac Pro and an IPad. However, I think they have their limitations just as any product does and don't believe that they are the end all product they are made out to be. In many cases, they are more expensive than the competitors and often times create another set of problems that the end user has to find a way to overcome. In my case, I have had to change the way I do my payroll and had to rewrite spreadsheets that would not convert from excel. Other issues and problems have popped up that I have had to spend time solving if I would not have converted to IMac. At the same time, I think I will have less problems with spam and viruses on the Mac and this was becoming a huge issue for me on my PC. I still use a PC laptop a great deal in the field. I use it for my APex software and spreadsheets that I use in the field. The value of a reliable laptop with a 10 second boot would probably send my IPad to the classifieds for sale. For whatever reason, my Motorola Droid X gets better reception than my hired hands IPhone 4. I have tried numerous brands of phones and for some reason the Motorola gets better reception than any other brand that I have tried on my farms.

It seems more and more that this forum has become more about Apple products and less about using computers and smartphone technology in Agriculture for our benefits . I don't pretend to be any kind of computer guru and that is why I come here. I want to know how others have used their computers and technology to help them in their farming operations and how I can adapt them to my operation. I continue to see less and less of that in this forum and think some previous posters in this forum either don't come to this forum anymore or just don't post because of the direction of this forum.

It is just like the old John Deere/Case argument, or Dekalb/Pioneer, or Ford/Chevy. If I hear someone consistently say that another brand will solve the problem and that brand is better then I am going to quit listening and not participate. If I see negative things posted about products I use then I will probably quit listening. I think that is human nature and I think it hurts the nature of what many of us get out of this forum.

Do we want this to be a computer forum or an Apple forum??
