You should not go by estimated planted population, measure 17'5" in a few random spots in the field, count how many plants with a GOOD ear on them, average out the stand counts and them mulitply by 1000.
FWIW I have been trying yield estimates for a while now and can never put it anywhere close to what it turns in to
