Southwest Illinois | As of last night we had 48 days over 90 and 8 days of 100 or more. Compared to last year with 43 days over 90 and no days over 100. 07-09 had approximately 20-30 days over 90 each year and no days of 100 or more. What saved us last year was the rain. We were working on a tile line Friday and it actually had water in it and the ground was actually moist enoigh once you got down a foot or so. But the heat is killing us. Corn planted mid may denting Aug 1? I see it in our fields too and it is not good. While kernel counts will be decent they will be very shallow and probably very light. Mother nature is harvesting our crop one day at a time. I think the early May corn may be OK but I still think finding corn yields over 150 will be tough. | |
