NE IOWA/ SE SD
I have dug a lot of roots in the last couple of weeks, the refuge tends to average about a 1-1.5 score. agree the goosenecked areas were far worse (i didn't want to take a picture of those.

Variety is DK 52-62. same number in a different field is doing fine, however, that field had beans a couple of years ago vs. field in pisture has been c-c for 10 yrs +.

I think part of my problem is I got a new planter this year and insecticide went in furrow vs. granular on top previously. I am thinking RIB corn will be a good idea for next year as that is look great right next to this refuge.

EDIT: I dont think it is a variety and timing thing because the other refuge field I dug tonight was planted the day after the field pictured.

other part of the field in picture do have considerably more silk clipping than the 3 ears in the picture......I just picked a random spot to take the pic.
