Subject: Re: Freedom to Farm

Washington Co Ks
I was reminded of the old farm programs a couple of years ago when I was going through some old papers. I had maps that showed fields divided into three parts. We had allotments for the crops we planted and also had to leave ground idle. There was a small tolerance but if you planted to much of a crop you had to destroy some or be out of the program. If you had a 20 acre field and could plant 18 more acres of wheat you would need to measure off 2 acres to plant to somthing else or use it for your setaside acres. They would spot check using areal photos or someone would come out and look to see if you planted the way you were supposed to. Now you can plant what you want and plant whole fields to a crop of your choice.
