Faunsdale, AL | Get the custom crew lined up and save your sanity! They can do it 8 rows at the time and process it too. I have sold my 3 row snapper head I was using on our Fox choppers. I had processers installed and that made the best grind with the least hp. Also used recutter screen and didn't like that. More inconsistent grind on the grain, but if you don't have processer rolls in the chopper, then you do what you have to do. Now we have an old 880 Claas and an adapter to a JD 843 head. Makes a huge difference obviously! It can really keep our bagger busy.
In my book, earlage is almost a no-brainer if you have cattle. After all, every byproduct feed which you might blend with corn in a ration seems to follow corn. So if corn is 6.00, the cob and shuck is worth more too. The best thing about earlage is no drying and you get it on out of the field ahead of combining time, also stretches your dry corn storage, almost no harvest losses etc. | |
