North Central Iowa | Here is my thought. I don't think anybody can guess the national yield within 10 bu an acre of the true yield. It would be like if I let you look at a 10 square foot piece of corn in a square mile in Iowa and you had to tell me what the actual yield will be. There is too much variability. Soil types and weather can just change the outcome in short distances. I also think as the average farm size gets bigger it will be harder to keep up with the increase the USDA has programed in for the national average | |
