Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | A relative who is a rural mail carrier, has an Escape hybrid AWD for his mail car (3 years). He has a lot of miles on it and loves the thing. He says it runs on less than 1/2 the fuel his old Dakota V6 4X4 pickups used. No problems at all except that the gravel roads beat a small electrical cable to death under the car. Said that is the only repair in well over 100K of mail carrier / dirt road duty. On long trips it makes 34-36 mpg.
The Atkinson cycle 4 cyl gas engine combined with the hybrid electric motor is as fast as the big V6 and much cheaper running. |
