I used to do engine testing for the Big Three. E85 has little lubricity. I WILL NOT run E85. If you like to trade cars every 85-100K miles burn E85. Top rings, valves and valve guides wear much faster with E85. If you burn a tank of E85 your next tank should be 10% ethanol to reduce wear. Yes- higher octane is not needed 75% of the time, the ECM will adjust.
