The Shell Knob Basin (Southwest Missouri)
I was going to ask the same question but Ben beat me to it.... The only thing I was thinking was you can chop corn no matter how bad it is.... jsut curious if even the so called "abandoned" fields will still have a chopper roll in a week or so after they shut the water off??? Dont imagine there would be much of an ear and the cows may not milk like they would, but it might keep em alive.... also if you had the fiberous plant material you could mix midwestern corn coming off of a rail car with it and make some pretty good feed...... its when you have to truck forage that things get out of hand.......
