Subject: You don't get it!

If you haven't experenced a drought like this you wouldn't understand. Most people in this area can only get a maximum of 500 gpm of water out of the ground because that is all the formation will produce. You can't drill addtional wells because they won't let you. You can only pump so many acre feet per year legally. Add all that up with the last 12 months with less than 2" of rain and the hottest and windiest year anyone has ever seen and you would understand why we can't just keep up with the irrigation. Our corn takes more water also because of our low humidity, with this hot 110 degree wind at 40 mph our humidities are less than 15%. Kind of reminds me of a blowtorch. I have CRP grass that hasn't greened up in 2 years. I did have a little Kochia that got about 2 inches tall and is now crispy. This is not just dry this is insane.

P.S. Our pan evaporation is something like 75 inches a year with an average of 17 inches of rain a year. This year has no rain and more evaporation.
