USDA estimates 84.88 million acres of corn will be harvested, up 3.44 million acres from last year and 92% of planted.
We planted 92.26 million acres of corn? Really?
It seems we were in this same position last year, but with corn in the $4 range. We kept hearing about this great crop and ...... well we know what happened.
We didn't forward contract any corn yet, I didn't want to sell any before we actually planted which didn't occur until the first week in June. Plus I am gun shy to sell too much after the fiasco we had last year.
