"Too many reports of better than expected yields around the state of Kansas. Still obviously a reduced crop, but it doesn't appear to be reduced quite as bad as it was looking there for a while."

Possibly.. although people aren't talking alot about the bad yields.. and they are out there also.. there's a lot of sub 20 bu wheat in the SW quandrant of the state.. Also we are experiencing extremely hot temperatures.. in all of 2009 we only recorded 4 days over 100 degrees here.. so far we have doubled that with a couple more on the way this week.

There is starting to be a level of concern for the 9 million acres of corn grown in the SW.. even the irrigated is at risk in this kind of heat.. in 1980 our corn did not pollinate.. are we in for a repeat with temperatures forecast as high as 108 for the next three days going into pollination the next couple of weeks...???

This situation is developing.. I'm not trying to be alarmist.. but we are not looking good here.. best keep an eye on it.
