Subject: Re: Light Squared

Sunnyvale, CA
the technical folks at the FCC know that the LightSquared proposed ground stations will wipe out GPS, the problem is with the FCC Commissioner who is non-technical and is responding to economic and political issues by promoting LightSquared transmissions. LightSquared latest proposals will wipe out both Deere's and OmniSTAR's satellite correction service. The biggest impact on LightSquared is going to be a delay in their IPO and many of the LightSquared executives will not have a chance to cash out as they were planning to do. In third world countries the LightSquared situation is called Crony Capitalism. What is it called when it happens in the US?

If you are planning on using GPS precision receivers in your farming operation, it is a good idea to contact your congressional delegation and remind them that food prices will probably go up if GPS is messed with by the LightSquared transmissions and the farmers can't farm as efficiently when GPS is not available.
