Subject: RE: 300 bushel corn is quite common and expected???

North Central Ohio, across the Corn belt !

paul the original - 6/21/2011 10:50 Not meaning to make fun of you....... Around here, everyone says they get 200 bu an acre. We really get about 175 bu average, the high points in the field might hit 200-225, but then you know there are low points in the field too.... The coop manager was saying for a year that we all have to prepare for 300 bu corn, it will come in 15 years or so, have to prepare for fertilizer, storage, transportation to handle 300 bu corn. So, seems some of us were more interesting in what, where, how, you are averaging just a natural 300 bu today, year in and year out. When you only repeated the same sentence, leaves a person out in the cold a little. ;) Oh, one of those people.......... ;) --->Paul

I Well Understand Paul.   if you read my quote, its 200 to 300 Bu.  and I will share some details that I try to Hold to over the years. There ARE Exceptions. of course.

1.   Plant and grow ALL, 100% 110 to 114 day race horse hybrids.

2.  fertilize the soil, NOT the Plant.  Manage and Fertilize for 200 to 300 Bu corn.

Yes Paul. riding across one 400 acre field Two years ago. that sold Dry wieght at 235 Bu. there was 300 Bu corn and 180 Bu. corn. depending on soil type.

Figure ALL Bu. Sold Bu. ( and be realistic. Honest with dealing with those Bu. and Future Goals )  Manage, fertilize accordingly.

Not in the field Bu. as you refer to Paul.

3. NEVER use Insecticide, Fungicide, Liquid Fertilizer of any Kind.

Never Use Row or Pop up starter.

those are some Tips, that work for Us.

Certainly NOT for everyone.

but we make it work Long term.
