Central Illinois
Ted, Ran the optrx on a sidress applicatior most of last week, Ran it basically collecting data and learning about the system. Felt like the corn should have been a little bigger to really make it work like it should. One of the fields we ran it on had been tested with the Illinois soil nitrogen tesn ISNT for organic N. The optrx definatly corelated to this test with the data and N it recommend. However their is a lot of adjustability in to the rate applied from the VI. My feelings were that the system is going to have to be run by someone with a good handle on N management and also someone who knows the history of the farm beign applied. I think it has some definate useses in rescue treatments.
