| 1 That looks like the old ripper shanks off an old ripper bedder. I would try the newer style KMC strip till shank, the one that goes up at a short angle then go straight up.
2. Weld a 1" diameter rod to the back of the fin on the ripper point, bring the rod up about 16" then right angle bend ti to rest against the shank. The round rod helps the straw roll off instead of building up on the shank.
3. Put a straight coulter on the front an make it cut at least half as deep as you are ripping.
