Ohio
A couple of things to consider for you. #1 who is providing you the equipment. Support after the sale is key, and it doesn't hurt to have experience as well. This goes hand and hand with the RTK Network, if you have troubles receiving signal can you call the state and have them out checking out the problem in as little as an hour or two?? How about on the weekends and the nights, can you call your wireless data provider and ask them why your internet is not working? I know for a fact the 900 or 450 mhz signal in Northwest Ohio is rock solid and has a support behind it. If equipment shuts down the network has backups to get it back up and running, if you are having trouble receiving signal they provide a mobile repeater to get you back up and running until the problem is solved. Some of the base stations are accessible via internet to monitor status and make changes if necessary. #2 thing to consider is cost of the equipment and coverage. The states network is currently free but when you factor in the cost of the internet connection then you are just about same price as the Trimble network available. The network in Northwest Ohio is also farmer owned, so no big corporations get your annual fee. Another factor to consider is what are you planning to do with the monitor?? That will have a big consideration of what equipment to purchase. Price them both and make an educated decision. Good luck.
