When restoring the backup to the spare display you should have gotten a message indicating that the backup was from a different display which of course would be correct. At that point you should have been given the option to proceed.
It sounds as if you got a message that the backup was invalid which would prevent this backup from being used with any display. I don't have an answer as to why this would have happened. Creating a backup can take quite a while if multiple years have not been cleared but it should eventually be successful.
I would agree that you should back up the first display again while it is still working and try to restore this backup to the spare display. |
