The question was how big of a tractor does it take to work 25 acres.  I answered, I believe accurately.  How big do you think it takes?   Your 3020 is going to have the work done for the year in four or five hours at most.   Our nearest neighbor when I was a kid farmed a quarter, two eighties, and a forty with a 460 or a 560 and he ran a dairy also.

I stand by my reply.  25-30 hp is perfectly capable of doing the job.

John Deere B was 12 hp.  Lots of men farmed more then 25 acres with them.

I disagree with this comment 100%. Takes more than just "a couple hours" to cover that ground with a chisel plow, field cultivator, possible cultimulcher pass before planting, and using 160hp tractors. Good call on the under respected Oliver. And the smaller Fords. I know for a fact if I were in the original poster's situation, stRting on small acres, I'd start with 110 hp and a cab, ONLY because I know where such a thing is for sale cheap. Otherwise I'd be looking at locally currently unpopular models to keep costs down.
