Subject: Re: German E.Coli epidemic update

Germany

the info is brand new, not veryfied and no background yet, but it sounds plausible and I think the authorities will deal careful with it after the false alert on spanish cucumbers caused so much trouble. There were coliform germs found on some cucumbers but not the epidemic one - laboratory work took some days to find this out. Can´t blame anyone for the false alert. Though the impact on vegetable growers was enormous. I´ll keep on posting if there´s something new...

If the epidemic really tracks back to the sprouts being produced and sold by a grower near Uelzen, the germs obviously came either with the seeds, the water or from persons dealing with both in the production process. Can´t blame organic fertilizer or waste here.
