SE PA | I commend you for helping your son get started in this way. Last year I had the opportunity to rent a neighboring 35 acres. thought it's be a good for my 13 year old to get started. Since we homeschool, i had him figure out 3 different senerios of the potential of the crop. After doing some figureing he came back and said he could lose $4,000 or make over $10,000. I told him that's the reality of farming. Fortunatly with last years prices he acheived the higher end. He paid the rent and slightly discount custom rates for the use of my equipment. I told him he'll be buying his own pickup when he can drive in 2 years! | |
