Murraytown, South Australia | We have a 50 machine, the Diamond Disc Chain and have used it for about 5 years. We farm some pretty stony hillsides. In reference to your question about clods being formed. The disc chain won't dig enough to form clods. I just runs shallow. In fact it will bust up any clods that you might form. The chain angles are fixed, you can't change them, but they seem to cater for most conditions. We ususally use it when it's dry, straight after harvest to knock the wheat stubble down as a mulch. We often give a second pass before planting to get the best weed kill and break the straw up further.
It's cheap to run and the wear / maintenance factor is minimal so long as you keep the chains tight. |
