Northeast Nebraska | I re-plumbed our old pull-type sprayer a few years ago. It had an 844 controller. The operating manual for it said that regulating valves in bypass position work best for flow rates below 4 GPM.
I purposely set my valve up in throttling position. We are usually applying 20 gpa on our fields with the planter. This is with a 24 row traveling at 4 MPH. This field we started planting in first, only needed 10 GPA. So I know bypass would be better there. I am going to use this setup on a side dress bar after planting though, then I will be putting 20-30 GPA on at 10 MPH through a 17 shank bar.
I have more orfices sized so that I get the target rate, at 5 mph, at 60 PSI. I have a pump pressure gauge installed that I can see from the cab and keep the pressure up. I have a relief valve that pops off to keep the pump from going over 100 psi. | |
