Subject: The Decline of AgTalk.

Blvd d'Espair Bowhill, Sth Aust

It ain't what it used to be, and  I think that's sad.

I will preface  my post  with this  quote, attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt...
"Great minds discuss ideas.  Average minds discuss events .   Small minds discuss people."

I'm sure  you've heard it before.

I  have  been dismayed in  more recent times, and  slightly annoyed,  at the  apparent obsessing  with BTO's on these pages.

As such I'd personally have preferred that poster   bgreen had described his pic of   a pivot irrigator tangled with a planter,  in different terms.
There was nothing wrong with his pic that I saw , although my own view is he was happier to bring that bad news to our collective screens than  was  warranted.

But did he really deserve  what followed ?

His apologies were  for the most part ignored, and  I can certainly understand why he would have felt bewildered  at being turned on  as he was.
It appears to me that the herd  mentality and some sort of metaphoric blood lust has  caused us to chase away a poster who merely fitted in with the interests of a large cross section of the regulars here..

In all this,  I'm starting to see why so many names that once graced these pages and responded with  valuable advice and insight to others  on a regular basis, have chosen to  move on.

I guess nothing stays the same, and it is only us irrelevant old farts that might have foolishly hoped they could.
