Subject: Re: Vermeer R23 rake bar bearing shortcuts?

I have 2 R23's...I changed bearing styles about 7 years ago.....I used to bale commercially and the bearing that came on the R23 would not last....I saw the bearings on an r 24 got some from deere...All I did to change the out was buy a 4inch 3/4 fine thread bolt....I would remove one tine and put in new style bearing and then i would place tine on new style bearings, if they fit flat I bolted them up. If they did not fit flat I used a vice to bend them till they did fit flat....Found some way off, figured that was why it was knocking bearings out so quick.....I have changed 3 Bearings since and you don't spend 30 minutes greasing it...Look at bearings at the top of page on R2300 where it says Twin Rakes on link I'm posting......
