yes it can be done but chances are the splined output shaft on the tranny will be shorter than that of a 2 wheel drive, so besides finding a tail shaft housing, you will need the tail shaft as well, and installing it will require complete disassembly of the transmission, might be better off finding a 2wd transmission, or diagnosing the problems with the transfer case!!
