Near-north Ontario, French River | FWIW I serve on two boards. Both have similar pay structure and I have to say I'm happy with the pay schedule. Sure I'd like to get more but I think what we are paid is reasonable. Would doubling the rate attract a better candidate? I suspect not, although you may attract those that are just after some coin vs actually representing the members best interest. Having said that I think if they were to cut the pay schedule finding dedicated candidates would become much harder. There is a point where people, no matter how committed, will simply not accept the responsibility of serving and the associated headaches without fair compensation. Its definitely a fine line to walk but I think in my cases the directors are fairly compensated. |
