Like the other posters have said, it will be better in the long run if you build new. If by chance you decide to go ahead with the conversion, there are some people in our area that have converted their tobacco barn to a post free building and did a good job. They bought enough trusses (dont have to match pitch of roof) to match each post inside the barn and the ends. They, then removed the center tiers from the barn to allow a boom arm the lift the truss, raise each truss to the top of the barn and bolted each post and truss together, including the interior post. When they got all raised and bolted together they used a chain saw and cut the post off that were on the inside allowing the weight to be supported by the truss. It is not to expensive, and can be a good useable building from a not so desirable structure.
