Subject: RE: John? snap beans

Newfane NY
I will not recomend anything but I will tell you what I do. Last year I used a program on snap beans that in 3 trials I got 1.5 ton/ac more average. It cost me about $40/acre for the extras and I had to spray once with just the products due to the timeing. I figure I made $150/ acre more after taking out the cost of the extra program. This winter I was able to figure out I was using Kelp based products so I went looking for ingrediants to make my own. This year we will plant snaps starting July 19th. I am going to use 1 lb Humate and 6oz. Kelp per acre in my 11-37-0 which I put on 2 by 2. Ideal is to have the kelp and Humate in the seed furrow but at this time we are not set up that way. When I spray them after they are up I am thinking, {at this time thou it may change} of using 3 oz Kelp and 4 oz dry Humate per acre per spray. I may also add some fish at 2 qts per acre for the fast N effect. The Kelp and Humate I use is dry and I have no problem mixxing them. If you want my supplier e-mail me and I will send you his phone. [email protected] This is my opinion only but if a person is almost broke and looking for that magic thing to pay his bills fast, this Kelp stuff is NOT it. If you are the type that gets out of your pickup and looks at your crops, this Kelp stuff should be tried. One last thing I should mention. I have not cut down on my fertilizer amount any, just added Kelp, Hunate and a little fish. Observer John
