| That looks like the wheat we had in 2008 in SWND. The drier pockets never headed, and the spots that did get some rain also had hail. My best wheat did a bit over 20bu/A, but I never told anyone because they would think I was bragging. In ND the insurance deadline is March 15, so we could see the potential for disaster and most farmers upped their coverage. With the high insured price and good coverage most farmers made out very well. If you run the numbers on your crop insurance it may make you feel better, but nothing like haveing a good crop. Its hard to watch a crop slowly burn up, just hang in there and look forward to next year. Our worst wheat crop ever in 2008 was followed by the best ever in 2009. | |
