Subject: Re: JD 3010 shifting question

NW Ohio,near Findlay
Mike, start with removing the cover on top, front of tach. On right side, shifters level linkage will be there. Look at wear in pins. There is a set up, adjustments, have it all in book. Our 2510 is the same and it's really worn in the pins and doesn't have trouble staying in reverse. My shifter drums (think that's what they call them ). the center bushing are shot. My tractor is on a loader and 5th and reverse is constantly used. We have around 4 thousand loader hours on it and no trouble with syncros. How many hours is on the 3010? I only have heard that 10's had trouble with the dedent pins, balls wearing, which can be replaced on right side of trans housing. Again have only hear some use ball and some use a pin for the dedent, think pin is a update. Will look in book and refresh the mind.
Behind right battery, look at shifter rods, maybe sure nothing against them, dirt, battery cables. One time we had junk build up and not let shift lever go back for the reverse.
See what JDTECH has to say, he knows this stuff.
