| Dear NMO RedPower
First of all, let me introduce myself. I m a wheat farmer in the 9 region of Chile, South America (BTW few days ago your president Mr Obama was here and had good time I hope, in fact I saw a big party in the Chile president’s house), associated with other farmers in my region.
Our desire is to buy some old but in good shape tractors with around 195 – 210 PTO HP, to pull disks like CIH 496 30 foot here. So we were looking for some information at Nebraska and other CIH and JD brochures.
The decision is not easy, because our wish is to buy at least 20 units to minimize maintenance and operation costs, so we must discuss all details first, so I was reading your message here and it came like a bomb to me, as you said the JD 4850 is an absolute fuel hog compared to the CIH 7140.
Because as per the Nebraska tests, the 4850 was at that year, the most fuel efficient tractor and if we see the newer one, the JD 4960 is more fuel efficient also.
The test confirms that the JD 4960 at 1950 RPM with 210 PTO HP, consumes only 0.360 Lb/HP.
Is it possible that your 4850 has a problem in the fuel pump ?
Let me know your comments please. Will be welcome.
Many thanks, Victor
