Your spec is to set them at .033" for your serial number and HP(Assuming Jake brakes, not Pacbrakes). That where I set them, but in theory, a little looser should make them a little bit stronger, assuming the added pressure doesn't start flexing/staining the housing and studs and bolts.

We set them to spec, because IF a failure was to happen, down the road, you want other mechanics to be able to measure your settings and record them to show that you, the previous mechanic, had those adjustments WITHIN SPEC.
