I pull a 1000g flexicoil 90' wheel boom with a ford 8630 set at 145hp, I have no hills but can have mud. In the mud it is all the tractor wants to keep moving at a good clip. Otherwise, I would say it is a perfect size tractor to pull it with, a small frame 7000 would be on the small side. My 8630 is comparable size wise to a 7800 jd.
