Subject: RE: Why the 7140 over the 4850

Just a couple thoughts on this subject. The JD 50 series was built from about 83 until 88'. The C-IH 71xx series started in about 87' but were built until 93'. There was at least one significant update that happened around 90'. My point in mentioning this is that the c-ih is, imo, a newer style tractor than the 50 series. I have owned a JD 4650 and 4450 and have a c-ih 7140. The case imo is a better tractor than a 50 series Deere. I am 6'2" and have had no visibility issues with the magnum cab. One pet peeve with the Case involves fueling issues. In a Deere, you remove the fuel cap and there's the tank. In a Magnum, there is a horizontal line than runs from the cap to the tank. The upshot of this is that it is difficult to coax fuel quickly into the tank of the magnum. I have a nozzle that trickles the fuel into the tank and this gives me a good opportunity to do the tractor pm work during the fuel-up.
