Pioneer is almost $4.50 LB. I think it is worth it if the market will accept it.


As far as having to up the seeding rate, I don't think so. One reason to plant so heavily is weed competition and losses from herbicide injury. Both of which a guy should be able to eliminate with a RR system. For us, the biggest benefit to the RR alfalfa is the seedling year. It works well, but our conventional system of Raptor/2-4, DB is also tough on the seedlings and weak on grass.
