7140 has 18 smooth shifting gears, 4850 bangs 'em in. I own both, my 4850 is an absolute fuel hog compared to the 7140. There is no comparision in the cabs at all. The deere is hard to get in and out of with no visibility, plus the magnum will have an air ride seat. My 4850 has not caused me any trouble but I hope this fall I can get rid of that POS cab and get another magnum.
