In general the 7140's were all turned up to compete with the 4955/60 deeres in our area. The selling point of the 7140 was the newer cab and full powershift transmission. A lot of guys with bunches of green equipment owned a 7140 mfd with a 5 shank earthmaster behind it. Per salesmen at the time... they commented they could outsell JD's "pickle jar" cab any day and all they had to do was get the guy in the tractor. Frankly I like my 8000 hour 7140 and wouldn't really want a 4960, but I've run the now really old JD 8400 and I wish they would come down in price (The new mx's are probably nice too, but I haven't run one yet and being a newer series than the jd 8000, have yet to come down in price)

thanks,

Pat
