JD advertises a 6" flex range on their hydraflex headers. That means that the cutterbar can potentially be 6" away from the reel.
Due to the floating-adapter design of the Macdon, the whole head follows the ground contour very well, and the wings rarely have to actually flex very much, in my experience.
