Itchy - 3/12/2011 13:19 Don't listen to JD dealer. No such thing as a 'tire kicker'. Anyone on your lot is a 'prospect' for a sale. You must talk to as many prospects as you can every day. Do the paperwork in the off hours, or hand it to the ssecretary. You will only close 22% of the prospects you talk to, so do the math, odds are the more you talk to the greater number you close. Simple salesmanship. Don't get complacent on belly to belly salesmanship.

While I agree with the sentiment that each person on the yard needs to be treated with respect, you show a lack of understanding of what goes on at a dealership. Paperwork is not something that can be handed off to a secretary. The paperwork we ask from our sales people is there to communicate the deal to others (accounting, finance company, tax people, owners, managers, service department, parts department). It is what the entire job of selling is about. You can't just hand that to someone else.

If jddealer has as many line items backed up for the next 30 days as he says, he's been working after hours all winter. How many more should he do?
