When you mentioned "curtains" it gave me an idea - it would take just a few of those curtain hanging hooks to make curtains from a burlap bag. I'd keep the printed side in so it wouldn't fade of course.
When ma was a kid the feed bags had printed patterns on them so after the feed was used they could be washed and the material used to make a nice dress.
