Could be that cable, replaced one on ours with a Ford cable from the dealer and it was about $250. However, if even 1 or 2 of your glow plugs fail or if the controller for the plugs goes bad it can act like that too. I also put a gear redution starter on mine and boy does it whirl over fast now!
