Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois | martin - 3/5/2011 13:57 Yeah, but, the IH 656 is about a decade older than the JD 2440.
Well, Martin, I respect your posts, they are very helpful. However, I bought the 2440 from my neighbor, and he bought it new just four years after I purchased my IH 656 Utility. Sorry to call you on your statement, perhaps I bought my 656 at the end of the line and my neighbor bought his 2440 at the beginning of the line.
That said, I could well be wrong, my memory fails me often the last few years. Both tractors and loaders were purchased new, my 656 in 1972, and my neighbor bought the 2440 just before the blizzard year--was that 1976? I recall he was very happy to have a loader to remove snow during the big snow winter following his purchase. BTW, both tractors have less than 4,000 hours on them at this time, the JD has been overhauled, (knock on wood) about all I have done to the 656 is replace some glow plugs, batteries, and a water pump. |
