The $39 cable - uh, yea. Apple is very, VERY proud of their cables and adapters.
That's the MO for all electronics manufacturers.
They will not be able to compete on price though. Apple is...eating up production capacity in factories that produce those parts. Other companies simply cannot compete with that and, as a result, have a lot more invested in each unit.
